Basket Making – Spring Term

rsz_basket_making_5Artisan Basket Maker and Willow Craftswoman, Mary Zammit, will introduce you to the skills and techniques of this ancient craft. Using locally grown willow you’ll learn how to design and construct your own basket from scratch. The classes allow opportunity to work on your own personal project under the expert guidance of Mary. You’ll need a sharp pocket knife, secateurs and a medium flat-headed screw driver. Suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience.

BASIC SKILLS WEAVING COURSE

Basic Skills Course in 4 Shaft Weaving 

The Crickhowell Guild of Weavers Spinners & Dyers will be offering structured tuition in the basic skills of Weaving on 4 shaft looms.  Places are limited so please book early. Gift Vouchers available.

The course will take place at the Arts Alive Wales studio in Crickhowell

8 day course

Initial Weekend, 18th & 19th February

followed by 6 consecutive Thursdays from 23rd February to 30th March

10.00am to 4.00pm

£200.00 per person including materials and loan of equipment

INTRODUCTION TO WEAVING – autumn term

weavingIntroduction to Weaving with Dunja Roberts

Using the versatile rigid heddle loom, Dunja Roberts, artisan hand spinner and weaver, will take you through all the steps required to design and weave a beautiful scarf. During this day-long course you’ll select your materials, plan a pattern, warp the loom, weave cloth and finish the end product. You’ll never look at textiles in the same way again.

Saturday 5th November

10am – 4pm

£40 for the day

 

All patterns, equipment and materials are included in the workshop fee.

Suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience.

Looms are available to purchase from Dunja if you would like to continue weaving after the workshop.

Please bring a packed lunch.
