PRINTMAKING – saturday workshop

DSC05461

Printmaking with Hannah Firmin

In this Saturday workshop printmaker Hannah Firmin will guide you through the importance of drawing to develop a print design.

You’ll create a relief print from drawings made in the studio from observation or reference images and transform these into a design to produce an original relief print in either Lino, vinyl or wood. You don’t have to have experience of drawing for this workshop, the printmaking process reduces tones and simplifies lines to achieve striking results.

Hannah will show examples of her own work and demonstrate the process from initial ideas and drawings to finished artwork.

The workshop is ideal for complete beginners as well as those with some experience.

SATURDAY 18 Nov

10am-3pm £45

Air Lab – Stories from Above

air lab1Air Lab – Stories from Above

Monday 6th + Saturday 11th November

10am-4pm

A professional development course for emerging artists to gain valuable training from experienced practitioners to design creative projects with young people.

We are delighted to welcome guest artist Mariele Neudecker to the first day of training.

Artists will have the opportunity to work with Mariele, alongside Emma Posey, Air Lab Associate Producer and Rachel Dunlop, AAW Participation Manager to collaboratively explore and develop workshop ideas. In the second session artists will be supported to facilitate their workshops with young participants from Arts Alive Wales’ projects and gain critical feedback.

‘German-born, Mariele Neudecker (b1965) lives and works in Bristol. She is known internationally for her glass vitrines containing landscapes of forests, lakes or mountains together with simulated weather effects. These often evoke other pictures or artists. Also using sculpture, film and photography, Neudecker creates a playful frisson between historical representations of the Sublime landscape and our perception, imagination and memory of experience.’ – Tate.

Mariele is a Professor at Bath Spa University. www.marieleneudecker.co.uk
