CABAN SGRIBLIO: Prize-Winning Poet and Cinematographer celebrate success of Tredegar children at Bedwellty House

Last Wednesday 25th October, we welcomed thirteen Young People, their parents and teachers to Bedwellty House in Tredegar to celebrate their achievements on the Caban Sgriblio project. We were thrilled to be joined by poet and teacher Jonathan Edwards from Crosskeys, an inspirational writer who has received much praise for his work, including the 2015 Costa Poetry Prize.

AIR LAB: Announcing our Generator artists!

After a competitive process, we have selected artists for our professional development programme Air Lab Generator. They will collaborate with technologists, curators and environmentalists.

AIR LAB: Stories from Above practitioners announced!

Our Air Lab – Stories from Above professional development programme commences next Monday 6th November with a special workshop led by our guest presenter, renowned international artist Mariele Neudecker.

AIR LAB: Dr Emma Posey – Associate Producer


Arts Alive Wales has launched Air Lab / Lab Awyr, a professional development opportunity for arts practitioners who are interested in the creative potential of drone technology.

Winner of the Creative Network mini fund

Stone carver Matt Caines, and jeweller and textile artist Amanda Caines have been awarded £300 through the September Creative Network mini-fund.

Based in Abergavenny, Matt and Amanda’s work has become more and more collaborative, finding ways of starting to combine firstly carved stone and wood, and later, naturally shed pieces of deer antler with Amanda’s stitch work and painterly approach to 3D structures. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY Creating market hall artwork – Abergavenny Food Festival 2017

Bettina Reeves’ annual art project for the 2017 Abergavenny Food Festival starts on Tuesday 29 August and runs daily in Arts Alive Wales’ Crickhowell studio until Weds 13 September.  We are seeking volunteers aged 16 years + who can commit whole days to this enjoyable and rewarding project.   The artwork will be unveiled over the Food Festival weekend 16/17 September. Winner of the Creative Network mini fund

Curator and Producer, Ruth Holdsworth has been awarded £300 through the March Creative Network mini-fund.

 

Ruth is based near Usk and works in contemporary performance and live art. She has started programming high quality dance, theatre and performance in Monmouthshire for a variety of small town and rural audiences.

Ruth will be using the mini fund to build on her programming in Monmouthshire and to develop links with local audiences, whilst establishing her new not-for-profit company, Break and Bell
