Mary Zammit is a professional basketmaker and qualified teacher living and working in Builth Wells, Powys.

She weaves individually designed baskets and larger structures with an emphasis on both form and function, drawing on techniques from English, Welsh and French willow working traditions.

Recent commissions include ‘Go with the Flow‘ at Talgarth Mill and ‘The Green Heart of Wales’ for Powys County Council, currently on display at County Hall, Llandrindod Wells.

Her workshops and regular classes explore traditional willow working skills and the use of willow colour, texture and form as a creative medium.

Locally grown willow and the rich variety of hedgerow material available for wild gathering, continue to feed her passion for this ancient craft. Through her work and teaching she seeks to inspire others to develop the skills of generations past and ensure their place in a more sustainable future.
