Gigi trained at the University of Aberystwyth and has exhibited widely throughout Wales, in solo and group shows, and has received commendations and awards for her work over the years, including the Sir Ben Bowen Thomas Prize, for Painting and an individual award from Arts Council of Wales.
As a landscape painter, the transient effects of light in Nature are very alluring to me. The more I look and try to represent what I am experiencing, the more the landscape seems to become a symbol for other underlying stories.
Before painting full-time, she worked as an Art & Design teacher in secondary schools, adult evening classes, and in the mental health sector. In addition to her painting practice, she sometimes works as a workshop leader, theatre set & costume designer, researcher for radio Arts programmes, and as an art director for TV.
Gigi works mainly in oil paint on canvas or board, and sometimes water-based media, concentrating on landscapes and still life subjects, working between her studio and ‘en plein air’.
Gigi currently divides her time between her studios at home in Wales and central France. You can find out more about Gigi’s work via her website:
