Catherine Wynne-Paton has been awarded £300 through the Creative Network Mini-Fund to pursue a project as part of the Clydach Gorge Collaboration. This group was initiated by artist Allison Neal, who has written notes about the cultural, geological, scientific and engineering history of the area as the group’s starting point.

Catherine will work randomly chosen written notes on specific locations into her investigations, and will use video, drawing and photography in her initial observations. She intends to extend these works by directly incorporating them in Saline-etched aluminium sheets.

This project is important to me because I have felt unconnected to the land I now live in for a long time, and this open exploration of a particular area is beautifully grounding for my highly sensitive and responsive approach to art making. It is especially exciting to be working with others who will also be working freely and experimentally, working individually and collaborating and sharing ideas.”

The Clydach Gorge Collaboration project will be holding a meeting in Abergavenny on 30th October, which all Creative Network members are welcome to attend. Email Catherine on for more information.
